The Buyer/Planner is responsible for all activities related to materials management from forecasts to delivery including day to day communication and management of the OEM as it relates to order fulfillment. This person has a business orientation and is responsible for working within the local and remote Operations team driving order fulfillment.
As elements of your daily work, you will:
- Analyze and communicate forecast to Tier 1 OEM partner.
- Manage the full procurement cycle (from forecasting, to PO scheduling, inputting, distribution, track shipments through receipts at FC, and payment).
- Review and analyze clear to builds and inventory reports provided by OEM on a regular basis.
- Host a daily shortage/material meeting with OEM and update and distribute spreadsheet daily for senior management review. Drive solutions to reduce and eliminate any shortages preventing meeting order schedule.
- Assist OEM in sourcing material as required.
- Provide Lab126 with finished goods build quantity/delivery schedule analysis based on information obtained during shortage meetings.
- Resolve any receiving and/or invoicing discrepancies with OEM, Fulfillment Center and finance.
- Active participation in forecast meetings
- May represent the materials organization in internal program meetings.
- Assist engineering with NPI buys as required.
- Work closely with the engineering team to define and provide cost models and roll-up’s for new products.
- Drive sustaining product cost reduction programs to ensure financial cost targets are achieved.
- Work with our OEM partner and key component suppliers to drive cost reduction while ensuring their supply pipeline supports manufacturing requirements.
- Work with the financial team to develop and manage auditable tracking methods for OEM and Partner charges (PPV, Refurb, Repair, E&O, Cash flow etc) that accurately capture the cost exposure for reporting to the Executive team.
- Work with the Finance team to manage and negotiate all OEM documented incremental charges (as above) to ensure the financial targets and goal for the company are met.
- Some travel may be required
- Other duties as may be identified over time.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 5 years planning/materials experience.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to senior management, peers, and team members.
- Ability to monitor and drive OEM to assure goals / schedule is being met.
- A keen, flexible and aggressive intellect with superb conceptual thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of mobile technologies, products and tools preferable
- Expertise in sourcing electronic components including hard to find /obsolete parts.
- Self-driven with a good sense of humor
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully.
Skills/Experience:
The ideal candidate will have strong background in procurement practices managing a Tier 1 OEM partner, will have excellent analytical and communication (written and verbal) skills, be highly organized, manage internal and external team communications, be able to prioritize tasks. S/he needs to have a demonstrated track record of individual success and effective team leadership in defining requirements and driving these across diverse organizations. S/he must have above average to excellent Microsoft Excel skills.
Education:
Bachelor degree preferred.
