Title: Senior Hardware Sustaining Engineer

The Role:

The sustaining team is responsible for all engineering activities for our products post launch. This includes supporting the ops team for yield and test issues, working closely with x-functional teams, suppliers, and ODM partners to qualify second source components, debugging field returns and implementing corrective actions to the design.

The Candidate:

This candidate will be an experienced hardware engineer, skilled at debug, failure analysis and data analysis. The candidate will be used to working on high volume consumer electronic devices and will have been exposed to manufacturing or sustaining roles in the past.

As elements of your daily work, you will:

• Work with the RMA team to analyze field return data to identify and prioritize debug activities
• Debug field return issues to root cause
• Implement and verify corrective actions
• Drive design improvement feedback to design team for next generation products
• Coordinate qualification schedules and validate alternate components for cost reduction or EOL
• Support Operations team with factory data analysis and yield improvements
• Travel to China for engineering build support

Required Experience:

• 3 years HW design / debug experience on battery powered portable consumer electronic devices such as cell phones or ipods
• Familiarity with high volume manufacturing environments
• Strong analytical skills including statistical analysis
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Adept with MS office including Excel

Education:

Bachelors degree with technical focus. Masters Degree Preferred.
